There are several good reasons to stay upwind from that guy.

Daniel's produced a number of quirky webcomics over the years, and I think his deliciously Sergio Aragones-y style really suits Bernard.  The girl is Heroine from his darkly humorous webcomic Taste of Blood. She was in a bit of a suicidal mode last time I saw her.
